IIP:   Initating International Projects
 

Graduates of this online class are able to initiate international projects effectively, tailor project team communication to expectations and preferences, master the virtual team challenges of distance, culture, and languages, and adjust managerial and leadership practices to a specific international project environment.
 
The class leverages participant and instructor experiences, and includes an extensive international project case study.


        Note:   Having completed this class is a prerequisite for taking the
                   Executing International Projects  (EIP)  online class.

  • Risk management planning: identification; analysis; response planning

  • Planning and delivering the international project kick-off meeting

Structure (see also above illustration):

Steps 1, 2, 5, 8:  Individual Activities
            Self-paced learning.  Examples are self-contained
            multimedia lectures or reading assignments.

Steps 3, 6, 7, 9:  Team Activities
            Working in teams of about 4-6 students.  Some of these
            activities are supported by participating instructors.

Steps 4, 10:  Class Activities
            Live Virtual Meetings with all students and the class
            instructors.


            Each step requires about 1 to 1.5 hours.
 

All instructional materials are made available through password-protected access to the University of Texas at Dallas' class website.  Students download multimedia lectures to their computers and work on them at their own pace.  Live Virtual Meetings are conducted through Adobe Connect Pro, an industry-standard virtual meeting solution.
 
Student teams are about 4-6 participants strong; each team has an appointed team coordinator, who orchestrates the team schedules and works with the instructors on tasks and issues.
